Between the ages of 8 and 12, girls’ self-esteem plummets and only 28% can say “I feel confident.” (Ypulse Survey, February, 2018)
In this empowering camp girls discover their personal connection to nature by exploring the elements of earth, air, water, fire, and inner spirit/self. They investigate ecosystems and explore the idea of personal ecosystems and our connection to all of life. Building this sense of connection grows confidence and personal empowerment. Outdoor play, creek exploration, hiking, games, nature crafts, elemental Yoga, dance, skits, reflections, and abundant free time to enjoy nature’s gifts make this camp a memorable favorite.
The Caterpillars Girls Camp is designed specifically for rising 2nd to 5th grade girls (ages 7-10). It gives young girls the opportunity to connect with nature and discover how they are part of the natural world. As girls explore the elements, they discover that they are part of the teeming web of life and that they have a vital role in the environment.
Each element is the theme for a day during this 5-day camp. Girls can dress thematically and games, activities, learning, and challenges relate as well.
Monday: Earth – Bones, hiking, learning the land and its ecosystems; finding their sit spot for reflection time
Tuesday: Water – Blood (and other human liquids!); watersheds, water animals, and learning about Water as Life
Wednesday: Air – Breath, Air currents around the earth; why words matter and how to use them to support you
Thursday: Fire – Energy; good/bad fires; making a safe, leave-no-trace fire. Inner fire and how to feed it?
Friday: Inner Spirit – What makes you, YOU?

Caterpillar camp is held in Eagle, CO, where nature’s beauty is abundant and a stream runs through the property. With trails, tipis, and open spaces to roam, the camp inspires curiosity and nourishes a sense of adventure. The small group size ensures personalized attention, allowing each girl to form meaningful relationships with both their peers and the natural environment.
Attuned to the unseen world, young girls love the thrill of making fairy houses for newly discovered nature sprites that live on the land. Working together or solo, their offerings to the spirits of the land teach reciprocity and connection to all beings.

Throughout the week, girls immerse themselves in Nature through a variety of fun, educational activities, with plenty of free time for creativity and play. They learn about the mysteries of plants, discover their personal “sit spot” in nature, and practice mindfulness through listening to nature, themselves, and others.
On hiking adventures girls discover “magic” soil, breathe with plants, and track animals. They develop strength, courage, and confidence when they climb to a promontory and yell their strength into the wind. Nature-inspired games, arts and crafts allow campers to express their creativity and deepen their connection to the world around them.
Free time encourages girls to explore safely on their own and experiment with the world around them. They especially love to mix water and earth to make MUD!
